Cedar County schools recently participated in the 4-H National Youth Science Day Project facilitated by Extension Educator, Megan Hanefeldt. This year’s project was called: Explorers of the Deep! This hands on experience allowed 5th and 6th youth to participate in an ‘underwater research mission’. Youth worked in teams to ‘ballast’ their ocean robot by adding weights to create the sinking and floating behavior of a real ocean robot. They investigated data collected by ocean robots and learned the value of ocean exploration. Youth from Wynot, Hartington and East/West Catholic schools participated in this program.
