Officials from Pierce County Economic Development (PCED), the City of Pierce, and Zuhlke Properties held a groundbreaking ceremony on September 14, at the site of the Five Star Subdivision duplex project.

The project, which includes three (3), duplexes, has been in development for the past three years. The Nebraska Department of Economic Development has awarded a $594,000 Housing Trust Fund Grant for the project. The total project cost is approximately $1.2 million.

PCED provided collaboration and match funding required for the project and assisted with the grant application. The City of Pierce is the grant applicant/recipient. Darin Zuhlke (Zuhlke Properties) is the developer/investor. Koehler Construction is the building contractor.

Work has begun on the first of the three units located on N. Elm Street in the Five Star Addition in northwest Pierce.
