On August 16, 2022 nineteen officers from across Knox County participated in an all day Active Shooter and active shooter First Aid training put on by the Federal Bureau of Investigation at the Niobrara Public School. Six FBI Special Agents trained Knox County Officers from Bloomfield, Creighton, Crofton, Santee Sioux Nation Tribal Police, Verdigre, Knox County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska State Patrol on tactics to enter  buildings, engage, and eliminate the threat of active shooters both by themselves or as a small group, and to also apply first aid as needed during the initial search before Emergency Medical Staff can enter.

All officers agreed this was very educational and a much needed training while also expressing the hope the training is never needed in Knox County.

The training was sponsored by the Santee Sioux Nation Tribal Police, and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

Thank you to the Niobrara Public School for giving us the school building to train in and working around us while we were training.
