Fifty-seven senior-age youth and ninety-seven intermediate-age youth from 46 counties participated in the Nebraska 4-H State Public Speaking Contest on Friday, June 24th at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln East Campus Union. Knox County had three participants attend including Ava McFarland of Bloomfield, Peyton Bratetic of Bloomfield, and Marshall Bratetic of Bloomfield. To compete in the 4-H Public Speaking Contest, youth write a speech or record a PSA that incorporates the topic of 4-H. Youth must qualify at their county public speaking contest to compete at the state level. Ava McFarland completed in the Senior Speech event where she received a purple ribbon. Marshall Bratetic competed in the Intermediate PSA event and earned a blue ribbon.
Peyton Bratetic completed in the Intermediate PSA and earned 4th place overall and a purple ribbon. Peyton also competed in the Intermediate Speech event, where he earned a red ribbon.
