Two Plead Guilty in Connection to Rural Pilger Break-in

On Monday in Stanton County District Court, Carl Epley, 35, of Fremont and Jennifer Oswald, 41, of Beemer pled guilty to charges regarding the break-in and theft from a rural Pilger residence last fall. They were both arrested following an investigation by the Stanton County Sheriff’s office and much of the stolen property was recovered. Epley entered guilty pleas to Theft and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon as firearms were taken during the break-in. Oswald pled guilty to Theft. Both will be sentenced later this summer and Epley remains in jail.

Also in Stanton County District Court, Gabriel Safty, 17, of rural Stanton County made his first appearance in District Court on charges of First Degree Sexual Assault, Use of A Weapon to Commit a Felony, Burglary and Felony Theft. Safty was arrested by the Sheriff’s office following a vehicle pursuit on April 21st after he allegedly broke into a rural residence North of Leigh and sexually assaulted a female victim and then stole her vehicle that he was driving during the pursuit. He was taken into custody after the vehicles tires were deflated and he fled on foot before being taken into custody. Safty ‘s attorney requested a continuance on the arraignment to file several motions and Safty will next appear in court on June 14th on other related charges.
