8th Grade Art Students Had an Opportunity to Paint Some Murals and Cargo Containers

123

The 8th grade art students had an opportunity during 4th quarter art class, to paint some murals on the sides of a building, and cargo containers at the Drive In Storage facility on 25th and C street.

The owner, Shannen Saltzman, contacted Assist Supt. Ashley Odell to ask for help with contacting someone in the district to paint some murals on his building.  She put him in contact with Middle School Art teacher, Tracia Blom, who then set the plan in motion.  Tracia created the designs, outlined them on the walls, and lined up the spray paint and supplies.  The 8th grade art students rode a bus down to the site on Thursday the 19th, Friday the 20th and Monday the 23rd, where they proceeded to fill in the murals with the spray paint.  Mrs. Blom will finish up with outlines at the end of this week.

It was a great way for the kids to end the school year, have some fun and experience a new style of art and medium!  This will also provide the community with some positive artwork from our students, a great way to express their creativity!
