With the extreme fire conditions, the CREIGHTON FIRE DEPARTMENT is implementing a burn ban on burn barrels, fire pits or rings, and camp fires along with the state open burn ban.
THIS INCLUDES CITY AND RURAL!! NO BURN PERMITS will be issued until the fire index is in the moderate to low range which will require a substantial amount of rain or snow for moisture. CREIGHTON FIRE DEPARMENT wants everyone to be aware that if you intentionally start a fire and it gets away, that more than likely you will be responsible for any damages to property or costs to put out the fire. This could come from civil suits and/or fire department charges which insurance does not always cover.
The Creighton Fire Department wants everyone to be safe and keep an eye out for any fire or smoke and report it right away. They are also asking if area farmers could keep a tractor and disc and/or water trucks ready for assisting the fire department during this time. If you want to be put on their call list, please let one of the following know: Fire Chief Kevin Sonnichsen(402-360-3795), Assistant Chief Corey Horstmann (402-841-2035).
